Review of 'The Bye Bye Man' *Collab*

This is gonna be a collab with a friend of mine who would rather remain nameless. We now have movie nights every Saturday, and I watched 'The Bye Bye Man' with my two closest friends. To add a spooky effect, we decided to all watch it in the dark {over Zoom, of course--we're still in lockdown!} from around 9:45-11:15. We had a great time for our first movie night!

Rating:

Wawa: 4/5 stars

Friend: 4/5

PG-13

Summary:

People commit unthinkable acts every day. Time and again, we grapple to understand what drives a person to do such terrible things. But what if all of the questions we're asking are wrong? What if the cause of all evil is not a matter of what, but who? When three college friends stumble upon the horrific origins of the Bye Bye Man, they discover that there is only one way to avoid his curse: don't think it, don't say it. But once the Bye Bye Man gets inside your head, he takes control.

My Thoughts:

Wawa: I loved the movie! I thought [Friend]'s idea of watching it over call in the dark was so much fun and really creeped us out by the end. I honestly had some pretty low expectations for the movie as PG-13 'horror' movies usually aren't amazing, but this one definitely proved itself. The main idea of it was really interesting and it even fit the trailer! Normally they take the best scenes from a movie to make a trailer, but all the scenes were really dramatic, intense and nerve wracking to see what would happen next. At the end, sure, some things did seem a bit strange, I suppose. All in all, if you like scary movies and want a fun movie night, this is the movie for you!

Friend: I thought it was pretty good, but the ending seemed confusing and didn't wrap up some of the loose ends. It was scary, it definitely wasn't boring so it did live up to the expectations of a scary movie for teens.
