Top 5 Worst Things Michael Scott Has Done

If you've been around for a while, you know that I am a huge fan of The Office. As of today, Netflix is removing The Office from its platform. As it is my favourite show on Netflix {just ask my parents, they'll tell you I've seen it straight through, 10 times at least}, I thought I should do something to show my recognition and appreciation for it. What better way to do that than go back down memory lane, reminding us of the worst things the main character has done? Comment below if you want more posts about The Office or a part two, and what other events should be included in part two! Happy New Year, everyone, and enjoy my countdown of the top five worst things Michael Scott has done.

5. Phyllis's Wedding

Season 3, Episode 16

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To get some extra vacation weeks, Phyllis allows Michael to help escort her down the aisle by pushing her father. Michael, being the person he is, made the whole thing about him and ended up getting himself kicked out of the reception attempting to make some inappropriate jokes about Phyllis as a toast. This was not his proudest moment, jealousy does not look good on you, Michael.
4. Back from Vacation
Season 3, Episode 12
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

While on a call with the already infamous Todd Packer, Michael goes rambling on about his time in Jamaica with his boss, Jan. When Packer doesn't believe him, Michael attempts to send a topless photo of Jan with him to Packer's work email, and instead sends it to his warehouse crew {who then distributes it to everyone}. The entire episode just made me want to facepalm~I dislike Michael's arrogant attitude and, really, everything he does while he's together with Jan.

3. Goodbye, Toby

Season 4, Episode 14

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There was a lot wrong with this episode. Michael starts the episode by meeting Toby's replacement, Holly Flax {Michael's future wife}, and instantly treats her like garbage, solely because Toby picked her to replace him. Not to mention he gets Dwight to haze her and he screws with Toby the whole rest of the episode. Michael also asks some inappropriate questions for Toby's goodbye interview. He even gives Toby a rock with a note saying 'Suck on this!' and tries to play it off as somebody else's gift {and rephrase the questions in the interview to sound slightly more acceptable} because of Holly's presence. This was just a very cringey episode, but, to be fair there were some cute moments between Michael and Holly.
2. The Chump
Season 6, Episode 25
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I, honestly, don't even know where to start with this one. Michael meets Donna four episodes before, in Episode 25, we learn they are dating and spending a lot of time together. The advice of a fake friend clouds Michael's thoughts on his girlfriend and causes him to send Dwight out to investigate if Donna is cheating. She learns the reason behind Dwight's coming after her and follows up with Michael in a rage. When she can see how upset he is, she admits that she is having an affair...with him. Michael disregards this new info and continues dating Donna, even going so far as to watch her husband coach a game of baseball! Fortunately, by the end of the episode, the judgemental words of his coworkers and guilty conscience force Michael to break up with his girlfriend by the end of the episode, but it is still enough to make you shake your head.

1. Scott's Tots

Season 6, Episode 12

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is the absolute worst thing Michael Scott has done in the entire series. Like many others, I am unable to bear this episode and all it contains. To summarize, Michael promises a bunch of 3rd graders that he would pay their college tuition if they graduated from high school, assuming he'd be a millionaire in ten years. In that time, he loses more money and is unable to pay the tuition. He goes to the school anyway, the kids all perform this song they wrote for him and he sits there {and eventually starts crying} realising how bad he's messed up. When Michael finally fesses up, he says, "Now I can't pay for your college. But you don't have to go to class to be in class. Online courses are a viable option to a traditional college experience. And the best way to access those courses is with your own personal laptop...which is rendered useless without batteries and I have one for each of you.". Of course, this leads to an uproar in the class before he just has to make the situation worse by saying, "Hold on, hold on, hold on--they're lithium!". If you still don't get the full effect of how truly awful this episode was, you can watch the 8-minute clip of the event here, but be warned, it is truly painful to watch. It was a bit of a funny detail that Stanley Hudson kept the newspaper for 10 years, just waiting for this moment, but the rest of the episode was by far the worst. I honestly think it could've been easier to watch if Michael had just told the class he couldn't pay for their college and left, but the fact that he stayed, went on about online class and laptops just to give them a single battery each just made the episode hit so much harder.
