Week 3 of Coronavirus 'Staycation'

This week has been very interesting. Also, I'm very happy with how popular these posts have been! I gained 35 post views this week! Thanks so much to whoever's been sharing my blog and my posts, I really appreciate it!

Below I've included a snippet of the news from April 19, 2020

In the news:

"Less than a month ago, Singapore was being hailed as a country that got its coronavirus response right. The city-state seemed to have quashed the epidemic without the need for strict lockdowns. It was testing widely and isolating anyone found to be potentially contagious. Then a second wave hit. Since March 17, Singapore's number of confirmed coronavirus cases has grown from 266 to more than 5,900.

So what went wrong? It seems likely that authorities overlooked clusters of cases among migrant workers living in cramped dorms, James Griffiths writes. Once the virus started circulating among that community, it was only a matter of time until it spread to the rest of the nation.

Singapore's story is not unique. Similar policy missteps are occurring across the world. When Japan recorded its first cases in February, officials focused on containing infection clusters rather than widespread testing. The country's health system is now struggling to cope.

In Hong Kong social distancing rules were relaxed last month, only to be tightened again. And a football game between Atalanta and Valencia might have led to spikes in cases in Italy and Spain, two of the world's worst affected countries.

As countries start drafting coronavirus exit strategies, one lesson seems clear: every move matters." (CNN.com)

My thoughts:

This week has been pretty good--at home, anyway. My dad got our family a new table tennis kit, so we've been playing a lot of that. It is a really fun game, easy to play but it gives you a lot of exercise and has been upping my Fitbit's step count a lot this week. I've also been doing a lot of reading on my Kindle. Do you have any book recommendations for me? Do you want some book recommendations from me? Comment below! I'm currently reading Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli. I'm about halfway through--friends have been trying to get me to read it FOREVER and now that I finally am, I really like it! I just released a tutorial on my YouTube channel of how to download eBooks for FREE and transfer them to Kindle using Sora. I used that method to download Stargirl from Sora. On Sunday, I went out for a hike with my family on a loop that took a good hour. It ended at a really nice pond, and Brady was very happy! I've been getting at least 7k steps everyday because of all of the walks I've been taking her on and she seems to really appreciate that. The table tennis playing also probably helps, though! On Saturday, I watched 'Parasite' with my mom. It was a very creepy movie about a Korean family who...well...you'll see. If you're wanting to check it out, just know it's rated R--because of language and some inappropriate content--and it's subtitled {because the movie's in Korean}. I had to check it out because, if you don't know, it won best picture of the year in The Oscars! Fun fact: 'Parasite' was the first non-English language film to win best picture!

Thanks so much for joining me here, today! I really appreciate it and all the attention my posts have been getting. I hope you all had and will have a wonderful week! If you're viewing this on Patriots' Day, happy Patriots' Day! If you're not--thanks for checking out my post that is getting older by the day! Keep an eye out for my next post, I post every Monday at 9:00am and Friday at 12:00pm {EST}. Try to do all you can to stay active, whether it's going on hikes, riding your bike or taking your dog out! Thanks again for reading! New post Friday!
