My Top 5 Favourite Things About Cheerleading

1. Stunts

Of course, a classic. A cheerleader who loves stunting. You may be wondering what position I am...it's nothing special, honestly...I'm a base along with my best friend! I just think stunting is such a fun, visually appealing thing to do. If you're thinking of joining cheer, this will most likely be your favourite part. ^u^

2. Dances

I. Love. Doing. Dances. In. Cheer. It's one thing to free style at a school dance with friends or something, but dances in cheer are special. You have all kinds of different cheer poses to do, you need to hit them sharply, you need to hit everything exactly at the same time as everyone else. All it takes is one person to be a second off and the whole thing looks terrible. It's a beautiful, difficult, stressful thing to do that forces you to work so SO hard for weeks and weeks until you've finally got every second down. So much pressure-filled fun!

3. Cheers

Similar to the dances, cheers can take forever to learn. But, of course, they are basically the only things people who go to the basketball/football games see. Everyone thinks that's all we do, just dance around while hitting some moves and chanting things again and again. But as you can see in this list, we do more than just hop around yelling encouraging things at the players.

4. Jumps and Tumbling

I think it's pretty self-explanatory. I love trying out jumps {especially guided jumps which make you jump higher!}, and throwing myself around doing tumbling. It's just a lot of fun to cartwheel outside of my comfort zone and try doing different things that look cool, feel cool, and keep you active!

5. Putting it all together to perform some special day

This 'special day' is what makes all of this WORTH IT. Sure, you work on these things for fun and/or to keep in shape or whatever but performing it is the best part. You get to show off all of your hard work to everyone and let them know that you aren't just a introverted depressed nerd who hides away in her room for 2-4 hours a day {instead you were at cheer practice}.
