My Top 5 Religious Ideas for Easter 2020

Hello! Happy Good Friday, everyone!

I've had a very good Lent, what about you all? Comment below what you gave up for Lent! I'm just going to jump right into my top 5 ideas for how to celebrate Easter, but still be religious.

1. Set up a SOTC egg hunt!

In case the acronym wasn't clear, SOTC stands for Stations of the Cross. You could set up a egg hunt! Some would be full of chocolate or candy or whatever else you normally would put in eggs, and there would be some marked 1-14, with 1 being the first station--Jesus is condemned to death and 14 being the last--Jesus is placed in the tomb. It's a really cute idea, and it teaches the younger kids about the origins of Easter and how it's not all just chocolate and bunnies! I, personally, am going to try this out this year!

2. Plant/put flowers around or inside the house

Easter is a sign of rebirth--what with Jesus raising from his tomb. I've figured that's why eggs are such a huge part of Easter, as it represents birth...and as do flowers. So flowers are a nice way of representing Christ's rebirth and ascension into heaven.

3. Make a Christ-centred Easter basket--from you OR the Easter Bunny ;)

To do this, you could include some books about the story of Easter, one of my favourite childhood shows, Veggietales, and some Easter colouring pages! If you want some more ideas, go here!

4. Inspirational Easter egg treats

It would really bring a smile to the faces of those who do a whole lot for us if we all started handing out little Easter egg treats! It's a very simple way to show how much we appreciate the people who do so much for us. All you need to do is fill a jar with some chocolate or other fun treats and attach this FREE printable and hand them out to co-workers, librarians, grocery store workers, etc.

5. Stained Glass Cross Craft

For the younger kids who aren't really of age to understand Easter and its true meaning, a craft is always fun to do. To find out how to make a stained glass cross craft or a bejeweled cross, check out how to make them here.

I hope this helped you all with how to celebrate Easter and still keep it religious. If you have any other ideas that I can make into a part 2 before Easter--comment below! I hope you all have a very holy Good Friday. Make sure to wash your hands and stay at home until this whole COVID-19 thing dies down. I tried to find religious traditions that we could still do at home. Have a happy Easter!
